A Mother’s Day gift to warm the ‘frozen bird’

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I for one cannot wait. My own mother lives right next door and the children and I like to pop in to ‘surprise’ her with a cooked breakfast each year.

Her mother – my grandmother – lives in a small cottage at the bottom of the garden and, at the ripe old age of 95, swears it’s the gin that keeps her healthy.

She’s currently pursuing a man 20 years her junior. Having read that the way to a man’s heart is through his hobbies, she’s joined the darts team at the local pub. It turns out she’s rather good at it and is now often seen boarding the mini bus, gin bottle in hand, for an away match.

This year for Mother’s Day we’ve decided to give her a set of Simon Drew’s hilarious Frozen and Oven Ready Bird textiles as she is a huge fan of his and is meticulous about keeping her AGA lids protected.

Being from the generation that feels it a sin to turn the heating on, she spends most of her life in the kitchen and, when she emerges to answer the door, she always exclaims that she’s a ‘frozen bird’.

It’s why the children have decided the textiles are the perfect present.

There’s now 20% off all AGA textiles until the 18th of March, so now is a good time to buy!

  1. Too often I’ve surprised by mother by forgetting Mother’s Day completely. Not this year! Thanks for the reminder.
