Constantly striving to be the best she can be, Yummy Mummy has been using the abundance of sporting coverage on TV as the excuse for an array of fun family activities.

The children and their school friends have been enjoying a mini track and field meeting in the garden of the house, with events including egg and spoon races, sack races and, of course, three-legged races.

An area on the front lawn has been put aside for long jump and high jump competitions, the Labrador’s frisbee toy has been used for a discus competition and the pony’s paddock has temporarily been turned into a cross-country course for the older children.

Prizes for the winners (in reality, of course, every child gets to go home with a memento of the day) have been chocolate medals on pretty gingham ribbon ties and – after all their running and jumping – the children get to relax in the kitchen with home-made lemonade and delicious fairy cakes fresh from the AGA baking oven.
